Simon Hull Daily Mail PDF

This recent article appeared in the Hull Daily Mail, describing sports activities for young asylum seekers and refugees, led by one of the Hull City of Sanctuary Working Group, Simon Foster.

A local Primary School has opened its all weather surface pitch for a weekly Tuesday evenings, where a group of teenagers from a wide range of countries meet to play football and take part in local matches, coached by Simon Foster, a retired FE lecturer and keen sportsman.

The Hull City of Sanctuary group has helped to fund this, and others have donated kit.

Simon said, “One of the aims is to try to get some community cohesion. Everyone – we also had people from countries including Iraq, Somalia and Sudan – has mixed really well.”
